Unique Characteristics: Body with a bronze epidermal layer. Each vomerine tooth about twice as long as wide. Dorsal-fin rays 175-200; anal-fin rays 165-192.
Similar Species: Stout Sawpalate, Serrivomer beanii. Body with a silvery epidermal layer. Each vomerine tooth about 3 or 4 times as long as wide. Dorsal-fin rays 142-173; anal-fin rays 122-156.
