Narcetes stomias

All Alepocephalidae Species: Slickheads – Premaxilla and mandible usually toothed; no premaxillary tusks. Head without scales. Opercles frequently voluminous. No spinous fin rays. No adipose fin. Lateral line present or absent, if present composed of pored scales (FAO 2002).

Unique Characteristics: Body entirely or partly scaled. Teeth present on maxilla and/or vomer. Dorsal-fin origin before anal-fin origin. Teeth near anterior tips of upper and lower jaws in more than 1 series.
