Osmosudis lowei
Unique Characteristics: Body moderately elongate and strongly compressed. Large, circular, nontubular eye placed laterally on head. Mouth large, upper jaw extending far beyond eye. Tongue toothless. Massive lower jaw, somewhat truncated; greatly enlarged teeth on both dentaries and palatines; some teeth as large fangs. Gill rakers with short teeth. Lateral line absent in specimens larger than 5 cm. Dorsal fin on middle-posterior half of body. Midlateral dermal keels on caudal peduncle below adipose fin (FAO 2002).
