Uncisudis advena
Species Description: Rofen, R. R. 1963. Diagnoses of new genera and species of alepisauroid fishes of the family Paralepididae. Aquatica No. 2: 1-7. [Could not find this publication or an illustration of Uncisudis advena.]
Unique Characteristics: Pectoral fins short, longest fin ray shorter than anal-fin base. Large mandibular teeth fixed or flexible and with smooth edges. Pelvic-fin origins behind or only slightly in front of a vertical from first dorsal-fin ray (by less than one length of dorsal-fin base). Ventral adipose fin between vent and anal fin present. No luminous tissue on ventral midline. Pelvic fins heavily pigmented, some species with saddle-like blotches dorsally (FAO 2020).
