Unique Characteristics: Belly and interpelvic area with 1 or more highly modified (enlarged, often strong-spined) modified scales. Mouth inferior; snout conical and pig-like. Sides with 20-25 narrow vertical bars that cross the back. Soft dorsal fin with 15-17 rays.
Similar Species:
Blotchside Logperch Percina burtoni. Belly and interpelvic area with 1 or more highly modified (enlarged, often strong-spined) modified scales. Mouth inferior; snout conical and pig-like. Sides with 9 or 10 horizontally oblong blotches. Soft dorsal fin with 13 or 14 rays. Restricted to the Nolichucky basin; extirpated from the French Broad basin.
