Unique Characters: Large mouth. Large red eye. Dark red-brown lines that radiate back from the eye. Sides are strongly mottled. Teeth on the tongue.
Similar Species: None of the other Lepomis species have teeth on the tongue or wavy dark lines that radiate back from the red eye.
