Unique Characters: Circumpeduncle scales modally 16. Lips entirely papillose, papillae well separated from each other. Anterior smooth portion of upper lip often recurved over papillose portion of lip, appearing hood-like. Eye large. Dorsum of head flat or slightly concave. Restricted to upper Dan River in the Roanoke basin.
