Abudefduf saxatilis
Unique Characters: Sergeant Major Abudefduf saxatilis. Dorsal-fin spines 13. Preopercular margin entire. Teeth incisiform in a single row. Upper and lower edges of caudal-fin base without projecting spines. Upper head and nape bluish green. Body usually bright yellow dorsally, bluish white below, with five black bars on sides. Adult males turn dark blue during spawning.
Similar Species: Night Sergeant Abudefduf taurus. Dorsal-fin spines 13. Preopercular margin entire. Teeth incisiform in a single row. Upper and lower edges of caudal-fin base without projecting spines. Yellowish tan above, paler below. Five wide brownish bars on sides extend into dorsal fins. May have a sixth bar on caudal peduncle. Bars may be complete on incomplete. Small dark spot at upper pectoral-fin base.
