Unique Characters: Dorsal fin far forward, entirely in front of anal fin base. Silvery stripe with bark border. Maxilla short, tip blunt, not reaching or just reaching anterior margin of preoperculum. Pseudobranch long, greater than eye diameter.
Similar Species:
Flat Anchovy Anchoviella perfasciata. Broad silvery stripe widest above anal fin, ending in a dark crescent bar at base of caudal fin. Maxilla short, tip blunt, not reaching or just reaching anterior margin of preoperculum. Pseudobranch short, less than eye diameter.
