All Lampadena Species: Three or more Prc (1 may be at or above lateral midline at base of caudal peduncle). Dn absent. Supra- and infracaudal glands single organs bordered by heavy jet-black pigment. No large white crescent on posterior half of eye; dorsal-fin origin over or slightly in front of pelvic fin; 3 SAO (FAO 2002).

Unique Characteristics: All PO approximately level. VO plus SAO = 7-9; 5-7 AOa; SCO and ICO well developed with heavy black border, deep in cross-section, body firm. Prc1-Prc2 interspace much less than 3 times diameter of photophore of this series (FAO 2020).
