Lestrolepis intermedia

Unique Characteristics: Pectoral fins short, longest fin ray shorter than anal-fin base. Large mandibular teeth fixed or flexible and with smooth edges. Pelvic-fin origins well in front of a vertical from first dorsal-fin ray (by at least one length of dorsal-fin base). Two parallel ventral bands of luminous tissue on belly between isthmus and pelvic fins; a prominent black spot immediately before eye (FAO 2020).
