Unique Characters: Body quadiform, body depth 21-34% standard length. Predorsal ridge present as a prominent elevated crest or enlarged flap. Preopercular edge serrated on upper limb to angle or just below angle. . Cutaneous barbel may be present at posterior margin of upper lip. Opercular spine reduced to a soft blunt tab. Dorsal fin with 7 spines and 15 soft rays (rarely 8 and 14). Anal fin with 1 spine and 14 (rarely 13) soft rays.
