Unique Characteristics: Body fusiform, greatest body depth 3.7-7.7 in Standard Length. Dorsal blade and iliac spines absent. AC with 2 or 3 groups of 5 or more photophores; IP in a single group of 6 (rarely 7) photophores. Gill rakers on first arch 11-22 on upper limb and 3-8 on lower limb, total 15-30. Dorsal-fin origin behind middle of body. Anal fin not divided by a cluster of AC photophores into 2 distinctly separate parts; SO photophore present; OP3 similar to other OP photophores, directed ventrally.
