Unique Characters: Mouth is a funnel-shaped opening with large, sharp disc teeth. Jaws absent. Seven gill slits posterior to eye. Nostril is a single medial pit. The two dorsal fins are widely divided. Pectoral and pelvic fins absent. Large adults are strongly mottled; juveniles silvery.
