Similar Species: Blackspotted Snake Eel Quassiremus ascensionis. Tail tip a hard or fleshy finless point. Pectoral fins present. Gill openings unconstructed, inferior or lateral. Teeth pointed. Pectoral-fin base restricted, opposite upper half of gill openings. Pectoral fins rudimentary, much smaller than eye. Head and trunk slightly longer than tail. Dorsal-fin origin on or behind head.
