Gambusia holbrooki

Unique Characters: Large dusky, black teardrop (often reduced) below eye. One to three rows of spots on dorsal and caudal fins. Dorsal rays usually 7; anal rays 10. Third ray of the anal fin in the male with series of prominent teeth. Often melanistic males present.

Similar Species:

Western Mosquitofish Gambusia affinis. Dorsal rays usually 6; anal rays usually. Third ray of the anal fin of the male without teeth, smooth.
