Gambusia affinis

Unique Characters: Large dusky, black teardrop (often reduced) below eye. One to three rows of spots on dorsal and caudal fins. Dorsal rays usually 6; anal rays 9. Third ray of the anal fin in the male without teeth, smooth.

Similar Species:

Eastern Mosquitofish Gambusia holbrooki. Dorsal rays usually 7; anal rays usually 10. Third ray of the anal fin of the male with series of prominent teeth.
