Apogon affinis
Unique Characters: Body generally salmon pink. Dusky stripe from snout tip through eye. Scales on body cycloid to weakly ctenoid. Median predorsal scales present. Posterior margin of preopercle serrate. Pectoral-fin soft rays 11 or 12 (rarely 13). Membraneous ventral preopercular flap not extending beyond posterior preopercle edge. Inner pelvic-fin ray mostly free from body Segmented anal-fin rays 9. Both jaws with a single series of small conical teeth interspersed with several enlarged caniniform teeth.
Similar Species: Bronze Cardinalfish Astrapogon alutus. Body brown. Dark bars radiate from eyes. Scales on body cycloid. Median predorsal scales absent. Posterior margin of preopercle smooth. Pectoral-fin rays 14 (rarely 13 or 15).
