Unique CharactersBackground pigmentation light, body overlain with small brown spots, which may blend together. Spots on dorsal and anal fins arranged in more or less oblique rows. Pectoral fin spotted. Axillary pore present on body behind pectoral fins. Usually 26 dorsal-fin rays and 20-22 pectoral-fin rays. Singular opercular spine. Body scaleless. Canine teeth and photophores absent.
